Governor To Tour Public Schools Of Excellence

PHOENIX – Governor Doug Ducey will visit six public schools during the months of August and September as Arizona teachers, parents and students head back to school. Chosen for their demonstrated academic excellence, innovative programs and exemplary teachers and school leadership, each school visit will focus on a different topic, ranging from early literacy, special education programs, STEM education, career and technical education, college and career preparedness and postsecondary attainment.

Governor Ducey’s first school visit will emphasize the importance of early literacy and will take place Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Legacy Traditional School in Maricopa, Arizona.

“The Back to School Tour is a great opportunity to meet with Arizona teachers and talk about the issues impacting classrooms and the changes needed to increase student achievement in our public education system,” said Governor Ducey. “I also get the chance firsthand to observe the incredible work taking place in Arizona public schools and to once again congratulate our hardworking educators and students on a job well done. As we kick off this exciting time of year, I encourage students to aim high, and wish all Arizona families a wonderful start to the school year. ”
