“We were very pleased to hear a clear focus on supporting and improving public education in the governor’s address,” said Danielle Airey, director of communications and public relations for Peoria Unified School District. “We know this is just the beginning of the process, but with the governor’s leadership, we are hopeful that this session will yield short- and long-term funding solutions for schools. We look forward to working alongside our elected officials to continue building understanding of the remarkable teachers and programs across our schools.”
Other local school districts were also supportive of the governor’s plans.
“We believe Gov. Ducey’s proposals are a good first step in the right direction, and we encourage legislators to work with him to assure they are fully funded,” said Jim Cummings, director of communications for Glendale Elementary School District. “We support bringing the best teachers to Arizona, but we also need to make every effort to assure the dedicated and selfless teachers who are in our classrooms right now staying with us.”
