MEDIA ADVISORY: Governor Ducey To Visit Southern Arizona

Includes visit to local elementary school and employee staff awards ceremony

PHOENIX – Governor Doug Ducey is traveling to Southern Arizona this Friday, February 17, 2017.

At the invitation of 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Lisa Stachowiak, the governor will participate in “Love of Reading” week activities at John E. White Elementary. Governor Ducey will speak to Mrs. Stachowiak’s students, tour a third grade, dual-language classroom, and meet with student council representatives. He will conclude his school visit with a book reading to 100 kindergarten students.

In the afternoon,  Governor Ducey will travel to the Pima County Fairgrounds to join in Vail Pride Day’s annual staff awards ceremony. The award ceremony recognizes the hard work and accomplishments of the Vail Unified School District’s 1,600 employees. At the event, the governor will present awards to three “Rookie of the Year” recipients, three “Support Staff of the Year,” and three “Teacher of the Year” awardees.
