Good morning. This is an exciting time to be in Arizona.
With increased consumer confidence, low unemployment, and record state revenues, it’s clear, Arizona’s economy is booming.
We’ve added 240,000 new jobs since 2015.
Employment in our state is at an all-time high, the unemployment rate is at its lowest since 2008, and businesses and people continue to relocate here in search of fresh opportunities.
Whatever your age, there’s one ingredient we all need in order to enjoy a great quality of life and that’s access to excellent health care.
For 13 years, Creighton University has been a key partner in helping to train up the highly-skilled health care professionals our growing population needs.
And today, we’re excited to announce the next major phase of Creighton’s legacy here in Arizona, a new Health Sciences Campus in the heart of midtown Phoenix at the storied Park Central property.
This new campus plans to house nearly 800 students and will include programs in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, physician’s assistant, and more.
Arizona’s need for health care professionals in the coming years will only increase.
And with this new investment, Creighton University will help meet that need.
With the relationships Creighton has forged over the years with organizations like Dignity Health and others, the impact of this new campus will be felt across our entire state.
And it’s yet one more way that Arizona is solidifying its reputation as a premier destination for excellence in health care.
There are many people to thank for making today possible.
I want to thank everyone at Plaza Companies and their President & CEO, Sharon Harper, for helping propel Creighton into its next era.
I appreciate all your company is doing to revitalize local communities and we’re excited for the positive impact this project will have on our state.
Now before I invite our next speaker to the podium, I have a little surprise this morning.
Creighton University's impact on our state has been tremendous and we want to honor them.
So, in recognition of everything Creighton University has contributed to Arizona, it’s my privilege to officially proclaim today, September 18, 2018, as Creighton University Day in Arizona.
We look forward to all the ways Creighton will transform health care in our state for years to come.
Now it’s my pleasure to introduce our next speaker.
