On January 26th, 2016, Dawn Wallace, Governor Ducey's Education Policy Advisor and Director of the Governor's Office of Education, presented the Governor's Award at Arizona State University's Educational Excellence Impact Awards. The Impact Awards celebrate the outstanding growth and accomplishment of 58 schools from 10 Arizona school districts participating in ASU's Arizona Ready-for-Rigor (AZRfR) project, which is a federal Teacher Incentive Fund Grant awarded to the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College to increase teacher and administrator effectiveness. The Governor's Office has been a proud partner of AZRfR and serves on the ASU School Partnership Grant Programs Advisory Council.
The finalists for the Governor's Award were:
- Copper Trails from Avondale Elementary School District
- Desert Thunder from Avondale Elementary School District
- Isaac E. Imes Elementary from Glendale Elementary School District
The winner of the Governor's Award, with a 37% increase in its teacher value-added score from the previous year was:
- Deer Valley Middle School from Deer Valley Unified School District
